Day 5...it has been a day!

Okay day five of making changes! It has been a crazy day and I am exhausted!! I worked out this morning and then grocery shopping, the house is stocked with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains and frozen fruits for smoothies...ready for week 2!

Workout today was 30 min/ 2.5 miles on the eliptical, 2 mile walk in about 25 mins and bicepts and tricepts with weights! I am using Tosco Reno's Eat Clean workout book for my weight routines and really starting to enjoy lifting! I was into weights in my 20's, but for some reason have had a hard time getting back into them. I also have struggled with working with the free weights because I feel so weak compared to all the buffed guys on that end...finally said, it is my workout for me and this is what I perfer...I don't like the preloaded machines...so finding my place in the gym...

Nutrition wise...

Breakfast...cheerios, banana and almond milk

Lunch...strawberry banana smoothie from McDonalds...I know, but it was the best choice, I didn't have time to stop and sit to eat and thought I would get home and get something more later,....

Snack....watermelon

Dinner....sirloin steak, butternut squash and mushrooms

Snack...cup of dark chocolate almond milk

I know it was no where enough calorie wise and I need to figure out what I need to be eating to not just support running, but now lifting to build muscles....working on it....

Day 4...Feeling Great!

It is day 4 of my commitment to eat eat clean and lift weights for one month! I am feeling pretty awesome! Energy level is up and taste buds are adjusting and i am discovering already I don't miss diet coke and coffee is not so great! Really enjoying lemon water, a little green tea and my newest discovery....dark chocolate almond milk by Silk! It is loaded with antioxidants and has double the calcium of dairy milk! Definitly a plus as my sweet tooth was missing my chocolate fix!

Meal wise today....

Breakfast....cantaloupe, vanilla almond milk, and cheerios.

Lunch....was egg salad made with olive oil mayo...yummy...was in a hurry so I didn't get to make it all pretty....

Dinner...This was my yummy today...chicken breast, broccoli, onions, tomatoes and feta cooked in safflower oil. (Veggies were added after the chicken was almost done so they were just warmed, not cooked)..and a sweet potatoe baked sprinkled with cinnamon!

My only snack today was my dark chocolate almond milk...

One thing I do see is I have got to get more snacks in....working on how to make that happen. Honestly I am not hungry drinking a gallon of lemon water a day! But working on how to make it happen...I also think I am going to get my run in in the mornings before it gets so hot and then go the gym in the afternoon to lift...

Todays workout....

Legs/glutes

3 sets/12 reps

Squats with smith rack
Lunges with smith rack
leg press
calve press

I know the weights were short today, but it was heavy for me...felt that sweet burn...I also had a 5 year old to pick up from child watch...

My run was awesome .... 6 miles in 1 hour and then another 2.25 miles walking with my 14 year on the trails....this was the first time I had been able to get her out there, so it was cool to get to hang out with her and so worth the shorter leg workout! I will always have time for the gym, but my time with my daughter is limited before she will leave home....she comes first!

Day 2---ouch

As I said earlier...I can feel the weight workout from yesterday...but I still got in my upper body workout today....Bicepts and tricepts...

Bicept curls
Cable curls
Barbell curls

Tricept press
Kick backs
Pullovers

Then I walked 3 miles for cardio today...it was a non run day, but I couldn't handle being inside on a machine...too wonderful outside to stay in so I hit the trails for a walk...

Food wise....pretty good

Breakfast....Cascadian farms cheerios, almond milk, banana, coffee and water

Now off to get some rest! Remember you are worth the energy it takes to take care of yourself!
Lunch was left over salad from last night
Dinner was a salad from Arby's...yes there is bacon on it...I picked that off and added artichokes...otherwise, it was carrots, lettuce, spinach, tomato, onion and I used lemon juice as my dressing, green tea to drink.
....sooooo yummy!

I had two boiled eggs for a snack and a gallon of lemon water to drink... I did have one indulgence today.....I don't drink often, but this strawberry daquari was sitting there and looked to good to pass up...not to worry there are no more....

OUCH!

Wow! Can feel that workout from yesterday! I have muscles hurting in my booty I did not know that I had! Funny as it sounds it actually feels good to be sore! It feels like I did something right! Maybe getting back to the lifting side of things will be a good thing! I can do this!!

Today is upper body, so we will see how that goes! Enjoy your day! Be active and make a small change towards your dreams!

Day One...Back on Track!

Today has been awesome across the board!

Fitness wise I ran 7 miles and walked another 2.25 miles on the trails at my gym. It felt great to be alone in the woods just running. Then I went in and did a lower body workout.

Normally, I stick to the the machines they have in the center...you know the ones that mostly us girls use or at my gym the older members. Today I decided to go to the other end where the body builders workout...hey I am runner now, but I use to be a body builder! I have just gotten so far away from lifting that I felt unsure going down to that end...it was great to do leg presses and squats and lunges on the smith rack. I also did leg curls and extensions along with an ab workout of hanging abs, ball pass, incline crunch and ball toss!

I feel amazing!!!

Nutrition wise it has been a good day!

Breakfast was whole oats with blueberries and grapes on the side....not shown is my morning coffee....but only a half a cup today...

Don't panic it is not what you think! It is my lunch, yes, but it is not a McDonald's Frapp! It is in a Frapp cup because I was running out the door with it....so what it is it....my reeses cup smoothie!

This is one of my favorite post workout smoothies and today it happened that it was lunch as well....it it soy milk, natural peanutbutter, dark chocolate, frozen banana and actually a handful of spinach thrown in! It is the best...my clean sweet treat!

Dinner...well half of it today and the other half will probably be lunch tomorrow....it is a salad made with spinach and romaine, carrots, boiled eggs, turkey, tomatoe, cucumber, onion, banana peppes, and feta cheese....instead of dressing I drizzled lemon and orange juice on top! It was yummmy!!!

For a snack today I had a boiled egg and still plan to have some watermelon before bed tonight!

I also drank a gallon of lemon water and a glass of green tea....

New Blog for a New Journey

I was trying to syndicate my fitness blog and it couldn't be found so I had to set up a new one to try to make this work! I hope those who followed my Journey In Fitness will come join me here. I started blogging a couple of years ago to have a record of my journey. It was hit and miss at best. So I decided, as I start over to just start over with my blog.

My goals are to start eating clean again. That means eating things that are considered living foods...more on this later. I want to get back to 80% raw eating. I have done this before and not only lost weight, but felt great, slept better and had fewer health issues.

On the fitness front I am training for my first half marathon, planning to start lifting again and adding yoga to the mis. After this half, I will decide where I am going with running....
